Nexgard Chewable for Dogs is a vet-recommended, palatable beef-flavored chew that protects puppies and dogs from a range of external parasites. This monthly formula is recommended for use in 8 weeks and older puppies and dogs that weigh at least 4 lbs.
When administered as indicated, Nexgard for dogs kills adult fleas, treats and prevents flea infestations. It also treats and controls five types of tick infestations including black-legged tick, American dog tick, lone star tick, brown dog tick and longhorned tick. Due to its ability to kill black-legged ticks, Nexgard Chewable is recommended for the prevention of Lyme disease infections in dogs.
Nexgard flea and tick treatment contains the active ingredient afoxolaner which belongs to the isoxazoline family of drugs. This fact-acting formula works quickly and begins killing fleas within four hours. It works by blocking pre- and post-synaptic transfer of chloride ions across cell membranes causing prolonged hyperexcitation in parasites' central nervous system and death of the insects in the end.
Note: Nexgard should be used with caution, after consulting with a vet in dogs with a history of seizure or other neurologic disorders.

A. Nexgard Chewable is indicated for use in puppies and dogs from 8 weeks of age that weigh at least 4 pounds. It is effective in killing adult fleas and protecting against five tick types including black-legged ticks, American dog ticks, brown dog ticks, lone star ticks and longhorned ticks. It is also approved for the prevention of Lyme disease in dogs.
A. For optimum results, a complete dose of Nexgard should be consumed. Cutting a dose in half may not provide the appropriate dosage required for protection.
A. Nexgard Chewable contains afoxolaner which belongs to the isoxazoline class. Once administered, this active ingredient is quickly absorbed into the dog's bloodstream. As soon as fleas and ticks bite Nexgard-treated dogs, they ingest afoxolaner which causes hyperexcitation in these parasites and kills them.
A. After administration, Nexgard starts killing fleas within 4 hours and is known to provide more than 95% flea efficacy in 8 hours.
A. A single dose of Nexgard is effective for 1 month. To keep dogs protected all year round, it is necessary to provide dogs with 1 Nexgard chew every month throughout the year.
A. Fleas and ticks can travel into the homes on people and jump on dogs to infest them. Once infested, a dog spreads fleas eggs across the home which thrive and mature into adults to infest other pets in the house. Therefore, it is necessary to treat dogs with Nexgard even if they don't go out much.
I have been treating my dog since she was 10 weeks old. She has never had a flea or tick and she is 2.5 years old. Will not use anything else. Although she will not just eat the tablet we cut it up in pieces and mix it in with her food.
It has the taste that all my canines friends never resist. These flavored chewables made easy for me to administer them and keep them protected against fleas and ticks
